A's to your Q'sThe art prints and posters available on Zookimono.com are hand screen printed by us in our studio in France. All our artist posters are screen printed on locally sourced, 250gr 100% recycled (post consumer waste) paper using water based inks. All our artist T shirts and tote bags are screen printed on 100% organic cotton, CCC EarthPositive® apparel. We decided to use water based screen-printing inks only: they are environmentally friendlier than the solvent based ones and give a much softer feel to the print because they blend into the fabric. Zookimono vinyl iPod and MacBook skins are screen printed on high quality, bubble-free application, removable 3M™ vinyl. Absolutely! We offer our screen printing services for large and small editions of artist posters, custom t shirts and other graphic prints. Check out the studio section of the site for more info or get in touch by email so we can talk about your project. Please note that all art prints for sale on the zookimono.com website are curated. Most of the art prints and posters available on Zookimono are limited edition prints. The size of the print run is decided in collaboration with the artist who created the original artwork. The master for the print is destroyed after printing the limited edition. Once an edition is sold, it's gone forever. For the vinyl iPod/iPhone and MacBook skins, we decided to screen print the design as the full artwork and then cut the specific model contours from that print. That means we have two sizes of print, a larger one for laptops and a smaller one for iPods/iPhones. Each design is printed in two limted editions of 150. = a total of 150 laptop prints and 150 iPods/iPhones made of the same artwork. We hand number the prints and stamp the model name as they are cut. We take great care to represent the artwork online as close to what it will look like in your hands. However, monitors display colors differently depending on how they are calibrated and can only approximate the prints true colors. We carefully mix the inks for each print edition, matching them to the original colors or their Pantone™ equivalent in collaboration with the artist. Applying a Zookimono vinyl iPod or MacBook skin is not difficult. But just like anything you do for the first time you need to pay some attention and be a little patient. It's by far less difficult than it was learning to put on your socks. First, clean your iPod or other device with a soft cloth to remove any dust or grease. Second, take the Zookimono skin and slowly peel it away from the backing liner. If your device has a click wheel, start with the frame, then do the big wheel and finish on the small button. The glue is pressure activated, so as long as you lay it on gently you can reposition the skin. Make sure not to stretch it when you peel it back up, though. Third, once everything looks right and is aligned press it down with your fingers to activate the stickiness. Push out any air bubbles to the sides. Smooth down the corners and edges. Voila! And if you’d rather watch TV than read, below's an equally handmade how-to video for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9WWdsxNELY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gol9QvPm0lg

Here are some of the things we do to make the Zookimono print shop as environmentally friendly as possible: Most of our packaging comes from local sources and is made from recycled materials. The cardboard we print our instructions and certificates on for example, was once a divider for beer and soda bottles at our local supermarket. Whenever possible we try to use eco-friendly supplies such as recycled office paper and mailing envelopes. We use non-toxic, water based screen printing inks certified by the Oeko-Tex 100 Standard for our artwork prints and artist t shirts. We chose to exclusively screen print on Continental Clothing EarthPositive® apparel: T-shirts have a 90% reduced carbon foot print and are made from fair trade, 100% organic cotton. Currently we are researching a greener, more eco-friendly vinyl substitute for the iPod, iPhone and MacBook skins. Our studio is heated with renewable resources and uses low-energy lighting. We use a special bio-degradable and non-toxic bio-solvent to clean our screens. Studio scraps are either recycled or waste products collected separatedly. If you have ideas and suggestions on how to make our print shop more earth friendly, we'd love to hear from you!
